Head-On Collision Leads to Dwi Charges for North Carolina Man

The penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol are serious if a conviction is obtained. Should an accident occur as well, perhaps especially one causing injury, the potential consequences of the charges may only increase in severity. A North Carolina man has been arrested and is currently facing DWI charges after a recent head-on collision that allegedly injured a mother and her daughter.

The incident is said to have occurred on a recent Saturday around 9 p.m., when the man was reportedly driving his vehicle in the wrong lane of traffic. Police claim that he proceeded to hit another vehicle head-on, causing it to overturn. A third vehicle was unable to stop in time to avoid collision, and hit the overturned car from behind.

The drivers of the second and third vehicles both suffered injuries, and the man in the first vehicle was arrested shortly thereafter on suspicion of DWI. Aside from allegedly driving in the wrong lane, there was no indication of how authorities came to believe he was intoxicated at the time. Similar charges carry severe penalties, and those facing such potentially devastating consequences may choose to prepare for what comes next by focusing on their defense.

Facing DWI charges can be stressful and intimidating, prompting many accused individuals to seek guidance in the initial stages of the process. By speaking with a defense attorney, a client in North Carolina could obtain advice on making informed decisions. An attorney can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client and subsequently assist in pursuing the most favorable outcome possible given the circumstances.
