Wrongful Death Lawsuit Possible Following North Carolina Crash

Millions of drivers in the United States travel roadways every day. Despite being in control of machinery that weighs several thousand pounds, many people overlook the potential harm that even a single moment of distraction can cause. In fact, a woman in North Carolina is now facing criminal charges after police say she caused a fatal accident; the family members of the deceased victims may also choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit.

The incident happened one morning on a day in mid-May. According to reports, a 22-year-old woman was headed northeast when her vehicle allegedly sideswiped a truck that was hauling a food truck. That truck is said to have struck a vehicle containing a mother and her son, who both passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the collision.

Ultimately, four vehicles were reportedly involved in the crash. Reports indicate that three other people suffered injuries, with two people suffering injuries described as serious. The driver of the first vehicle has since been charged with death by motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

Unfortunately, a family is now experiencing the unexpected and tragic loss of two of their family members. While they come to terms with their grief, many surviving family members of such accidents also face significant financial complications. For example, funeral costs and lost wages can create even more burdens in a time already filled with stress. As a result, some who are coping with such a loss in North Carolina choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. If successfully presented, plaintiffs could receive a financial award that would help them cope with these complications, allowing them to focus on their overall recovery.
