Fatal Accident Leads to Dwi Charges for North Carolina Man

Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offense that can have severe penalties should a conviction be obtained. The consequences of similar crimes may only increase should an accident occur, especially one that results in the death of another party. A North Carolina man is currently facing DWI charges after a recent accident that is said to have led to the death of a young boy.

Two young boys were reportedly riding a four-wheeler when the one driving apparently decided to travel out into the road. An oncoming vehicle subsequently slammed into the four-wheeler and then began to roll over. One of the boys was airlifted to a medical facility for treatment of life-threatening injuries, while the other was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

According to initial investigations, the man was traveling right at the speed limit at the time of the accident. In addition, four-wheelers are apparently not allowed on the road in the area. He is still facing multiple charges in relation to the incident, including DWI, although it is unclear how authorities came to believe that intoxication was a contributing factor.

When facing the potentially devastating consequences that may accompany a DWI conviction, a person may wish to protect his or her future by challenging the charges, but the process can be stressful and intimidating. Those who are accused of similar crimes could choose to speak with an attorney for assistance in forming a strong defense for use during court proceedings. Should a conviction be unavoidable, an attorney in North Carolina can assist a client in pursuing the most favorable outcome possible given the circumstances.
