North Carolina Sheriff's Candidate, Son Face Drug Charges

Sometimes, it is difficult to ascertain what actually caught the attention of police officers, ultimately sparking an investigation. Unfortunately, such investigations often leave people in North Carolina and across the country making decisions that will ultimately have a significant impact on the rest of their lives. In fact, a father and son were recently arrested and now face drug charges.

Though the men were not arrested until early September, reports indicate that the 60-year-old and 30-year-old father-son pair had been under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation for a month prior to that. As part of that investigation, undercover agents reportedly purchased marijuana from the men. It is unclear why agents initially started an investigation against the men.

The investigation ultimately led to a search of a home apparently connected to the pair. During the search, agents reportedly discovered packages of marijuana, packaging material, ledgers, drug paraphernalia and digital scales. Investigators also seized money and a rifle during the search. The older man was reportedly a candidate for sheriff.

Unfortunately, the criminal justice system can seem overwhelming, even to those who may have some experience with it. Many people in North Carolina who face drug charges and other allegations want an experienced attorney to examine the details of their case and help them choose the most appropriate course for their individual circumstances. Often, having such a professional fighting on their behalf and helping them make the difficult decisions that will ultimately have a significant impact on the rest of their lives can relieve some of the stress associated with a criminal case.
